Direct Access - What is it?
Members of the Public can now instruct Barristers directly. Andrew Nixon is a Family and Civil law Barrister.
As a Barrister the usual route to Andrew Nixon has previously been through a Solicitor, however the rules governing access to the Bar have been relaxed. Therefore members of the public can now instruct Andrew directly without the need of involving anyone else (e.g. a solicitor). This is called ‘Public Access’ (more often referred to as Direct Access).
Such arrangements do not suit every case and there will invariably be occasions when a Solicitor will be needed. If yours is such a case Andrew can advise you of this. However, if you, like many people, do not qualify for legal aid and therefore have to pay for legal assistance yourself, instructing Andrew directly could save you a significant amount of money in unnecessary legal fees.
With his specialist knowledge and experience both in and out of court, Andrew is invariably asked to advise clients on the strengths and weaknesses of their case. The earlier this advice is sought the greater the chances are that the client can save money and also avoid the worry and risk of an unnecessary trial.
As a specialist legal adviser and court room advocate, he is regularly instructed in all manner of specialist family and civil law matters. If you are a member of the public and would like to see the areas of law that Andrew can be instructed directly on please click on the DIRECT ACCESS heading on the left or alternatively call his Clerk Lisa on 0113 227 0708 to discuss your requirements.
